Animal th EP is the precursor to Dice Raw’s forthcoming concept album entitled Jimmy’s Back, inspired by the New York Times best-selling book, “The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Color Blindness” by Dr. Michelle Alexander.
Dice Raw recently changed the album’s title spelling in tribute to his childhood friend and fellow Philadelphia rapper Jimmy Davis a.k.a. Jimmy Wallstreet who was murdered on June 20, 2013, just days after participating in an anti-violence rally in the city.
“Jimmy was all about positivity…it’s a tragedy that his life had to play out this way. I wanted to dedicate this album to him in the hopes of changing some perspectives and saving some lives,” Dice Raw noted about the spelling change dedication.”
